What is a 'creeper'

In the final scene when Val is telling everyone about Billy's troubles in jail, she says "Billy's not a burgler, he's a creeper". What on earth is a creeper in this context?

reply

I think it´s someone who mooches off people to get money for drugs. Steals if he has to.

A "creeper" is when you burgle a home while the residents are inside sleeping or whatever

i agree, the context it was given in didnt really make much sense, as both are still burglaries

^Thanks. So it's what we in America refer to as a home invasion.

reply

Yeah i think it's generally just people who will do whatever they have to, to get money for drugs.. Scrounging off family members, petty theft of whatever he can get his hands on etc. creeping around others to get bits of cash. I don't think it's so much breaking and entry, we only really saw him scrounging money off friends and family, random people in the park and pinching stuff from his sisters house

While we're at it translating the movie, I'd also like to know a) who is a "grass" (an avid marijuana smoker perhaps...?) and b) who is a "noncer" (the Valerie character says that Billy is "segregated for protection - he's in there with all the noncers and rapists").

A 'grass' is someone who informs the Police on criminal people and activities, often for renumeration. A 'nonce' is a sexual deviant/offender.

Thank you much!

the term creeper comes from the way they will burgle your house and go thru your bedroom while your asleep in it. they literally creep about so as not to wake the occupants. burgers will 99% of the time burgle a house they know is empty.

burglers**
