Ive seen this remake. I have not seen the original danish one.
I've heard that they changed the killers identity from the danish to this, so i ask you who have seen both versions.
Was it Josh Brolins character? What were the motives?

In the danish movie, it was Ulf Pilgaard's character who was the killer. Motives being that he's a psychopathic necrophile.

Then i can simply say they didnt change the killer in the remake. It was the cop with the same motivation as you described.
Although they made it look like it was suppose to be Martin Bells best friend who was the killer, played brilliantly by Josh Brolin.
