Can't believe they released this dreck while Spider-man sits in limbo.

How could this be in stores, but the show "The Amazing Spider-man" probably will never see the light of DVD. It boggles the mind.

It's not mind boggling at all, its called good marketing. It was released around the same time as the Iron Man dvd, because Nick Fury has a cameo in it.

reply

If that's the reason why haven't they used this "good marketing" you speak of to release "The Amazing Spider-man" when any of his films came out? More people have wanted that show than this horrid telefilm.

reply

but i thought Nick Fury was black?

"one ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them "

reply

Nick Fury is black in the Ultimate universe and is based on Samuel L. Jackson who ironically is playing him in the Avengers movie.

He's supposed to be white

reply

There is no "supposed to be" with the Marvel Universe anymore.

Fury was white in the 616 Universe...in the Ultimate Universe, he's Sam Jackson. haha

I think Buena Vista (Disney, more or less) has the home video rights to the 90's X-Men and Spider-Man shows, so they're the ones at fault for not releasing anything more than those greatest hits-type "Spider-Man vs..." DVD's that feature whatever villains are popping up in the films, whatever other heroes have movies coming out, etc. Marvel isn't completely at fault. Like someone else sort of mentioned, this Fury movie would have continued to air endlessly on FX and Sci-Fi if it hadn't been for Iron Man. Fox saw a chance to make money on it, so they released it on DVD. I had seen it before, so I knew what I was getting into. My lady friend got it for me for Christmas and joked that I should have asked her for porn instead, because then the looks she may have gotten at the checkout would have been a little LESS weird...

"You know who's in this, right?"

I watched this on Encore today. I wouldn't buy this unless I found it under 5 bucks. I wish they'd release the Generation X tv movie on DVD.
