Please

Does somebody know words for the irish song, which Sean sings at burial-feast? Please, write to me. Thanks!

reply

Credits say original music by Stephen McKeon. Track him down and ask him. I'm sure he'd be delighted to help.

Did anyone get in touch with you? I want to know the same exact thing!!! What is the name of the song? What is the translation.

reply

The song is called Fill A Ruin O, but I have no idea where you could find a translation.

"Because you're mine, I walk the line"

Fill A Rúin ó

Fill, fill a ruin ó,
Fill a ruin ó is ná himigh uaim,
Fill orm a chuisle ‘s a stóir
Agus chífidh tú ‘n ghlóir ma fhilleann tú.

Shúil mise thall is a bhus,
I Móta Ghráinn Óige a rugadh mé,
‘S ní fhaca mé ‘n iontas go fóill,
Mar an Sagart Ó Dónaill ‘na mhinistir.

Fill, fill a ruin ó,
Fill a ruin ó is ná himigh uaim,
Fill orm a chuisle ‘s a stóir
Agus chífidh tú ‘n ghlóir ma fhilleann tú.

Come, come back my love,
Come back my love and don’t leave me,
Come back my heartbeat, my treasure,
It’s the glory you’ll see if you come to me.

I wandered near and far
And ‘twas in Moat of fair Grainne I was born,
With no great wonder have I seen today
With Father O’Donnell as a Minister.

Come, come back my love,
Come back my love and don’t leave me,
Come back my heartbeat, my treasure,
It’s the glory you’ll see if you come to me.

Thank You very Much!

It's been a pleasure to find out the name of that song.

I'm glad people still do know how to appreciate good vocal music.
I'm here for whenever you nat to have a chat, ok?
If you like the idea you just have to send me an email and I'll give su my username of hotmail.

Lots of thanks again.

PS: I didn't really watch the hole film because I had to rehearse with an orchestra I play in, but they've told me that just right at the end they sing a duet song; aonther very nice one indeed.

I would also appreciate that someone could kindly tell me the title at least. And what do the kids say everytime they see Chad (in the film) is it a kind of irish greeting?

Ta!

Peace be with you...

reply

The name of the duet at the end of the movie is called "you're the one" by Shane MacGowan and the pogues/popes(?). It's a really pretty duet...Watch the film if you get a chance..it a really good one...

reply

The name of the song is 'You're The One'... you've probably figured out it's by Shane MacGowan and Maire Brennan. Beautiful song... also played at the end of Circle of Friends.

I am absolutely astonished to discover that someone has posted the title and the words to the song, "Fill A Rúin ó." Much gratitude.

I, too, loved the film as well as the soundtrack. I did check the list of songs at the end of the movie years ago but could not see it very well. I often will go after information I am looking for but really had given up on ever learning the name of or words to that song especially. Some of the others I could make out better.

Thanks to the members who posted these and the other lyrics. And what a pleasant surprise to find that there is a community of others who appreciate this movie as much as I do!

About the two boys saying an Irish greeting... I think you might be talking about "What are you like?" which one boy keeps saying. That sort of means, "What are you talking about?"

reply

Hi there, i was wondering if you could help me out. Im trying to remember what happened at the end of The Nephew. I know chad went back to the US, but cant remember if there were any conclusions in the film. Do you know?
Pat

reply

It doesn't show him actually going back to the US... He tries to leave but then his uncle invites him to stay, begs his forgiveness...the main characters go to where he was sleeping under the big stones and they spread his mothers ashes there. The uncle finally acknowledges his son. And of course the two enemies make peace.

reply

I think the two Irish boys say to him "What do you like?" as in "what do you think?" or something you wouldn't expect.

Hey I believe theese are the lyrics you are looking for. Below.

You're the One
By Michael Kamen and Shane MacGowan (1995)
You fill my sweetest dreams
You fill my sleep
You fill my heart with love
You make my life complete
When all is said and done
Darling I know you're the one

Lying in my lonely bed
Thought about you as the moon
Listening to the sad songs down below
Thought about you as the tune
Wish that I could let you know
I think about you as the sun
So you're everywhere I go
My darling I know you're the one

The one I long to see
To drown myself in you
Surround myself safe in your arms
Forever

Darling I know you're the one

Funny how the circle turns
Funny how the flame still burns
Now that all is said and done
Darling I know you're the one

Wherever you go
I'll always know
Darling I know you're the one
You're the one
Darling I know you're the one
