Was it just the time when the movie was made, or did all the women in this film have an obsession with that flat dark red lipstick? To me personally (and it really is just my opinion) a woman wearing it looks especially uptight, so it was appropriate for Mia (about the most uptight woman I've ever seen in a movie) but I don't think so much for the others. Or am I just wacky?

I agree Mia was rather uptight and difficult to get along with she seem to have some deep issues that prevented her from connecting with others.

I think it was part of the style back in '97, plus it was winter in New England - I think it was tied into that as well. Yeah, I also agree that it added to the uptight-Mia look.
