Why in the hell was Kimmy going to drop out of college?

She was only 20 years old. She couldn't even legally drink at her own wedding. What was the need for her to drop out of school? Wouldn't Michael want her to finish school and have her own career, if that's what she wanted? (She mentioned that it was what she wanted.) So stupid, it was like something from the 1950s.

I know that really bugged me too it made no sense for her to do that. It would be in her best interests to finish her degree and a supportive partner should encourage her too. I think in the crazy world of the films because he travelled so much for his job she was expected to give up uni so she could travel with him(?!). So nuts. It would just make sense to be engaged or whatever until he finishes uni and then they can get married if they wanted too!

I really hated that guys character (can't remember his name). Towards the end of the film when he's telling Juilianne how he proposed when he was on the train leaving and just blurted out and asked Kim to marry him. It just showed he didn't think it through and just seemed like a silly immature man!

That's actually something that really bugged me on my latest viewing. This was the first time I'd seen it in ages and the first time as an adult, but the whole time I just couldn't help wondering why the heck she couldn't just finish college, especially since she only had one single year left until graduation. The time they would have spent apart with her being at school while he traveled (assuming they didn't have random weekends together) would have only totaled to about 8 or 9 months, not including the breaks like the one between the two semesters or spring break, which they could presumably spend together. Why not just finish it out, even if she still decided not to work afterwards, for whatever reason? At least then she'd still have a degree and could start working later if she changed her mind or something happened.

Once upon a time there was a magical place where it never rained. The end.

Calm down, Feminazis. Just because you wouldn't do it doesn't mean it's wrong for others to.

I didn't like that at all. It's a wise thing to have an education. That degree is forever, but you can't be that sure about her marriage. How was he going to support a family on his low income?

Yes Michael was good looking but not good husband material at all!!
Jimmy was expected to quite school prior to getting her degree which would have made her an architect so she could have her own career. She was made to have no honey moon cos Michael was going to drag her to Texas!! He took jules to Florence years ago so why not treat his wife the same. I thought his behaviour was disgusting. Singing to jules in the restaurant at how Shen looks beautiful, And his fiancé is bloody sitting right there. Laughing & joking with jules, ordering for each other in the karaoke bar and completely ignoring his wife to be!! If I were Kim, I'd have said "u know, what, I don't need this *beep* I'm meant to be number one in your life & im nobody's second choice!!

What a selfish *beep*

The whole thing was stupid. And considering that she was so young and they barely knew each other, why get married so soon? Why not just be engaged for a year or so and then get married?

She said she wanted to finish school and was dropping out to be with him.

That whole scene where he exploded at her and she was crying and begging him not to leave her was just cringeworthy. Yeah, that sets a great precedent for the rest of your marriage. She's desperate for him to stay with her no matter what she has to give up, and he gets pissed at her for respectfully stating that she has changed her mind about the plan.

That marriage was basically marked for divorce from the beginning. She was so young and had to give up her entire life for him - almost inevitably, she would be resenting the hell out of him after a couple of years.
