Kimmy needed a proper flaw.

Despite Julianne being implied as sneaky just from the tagline alone, it was Kimmy that rubbed me the wrong way the first time I watched this. Her perfection was just so one-dimensional that by maybe 25% through the film I was already loathing her. I get that while Julianne is meant to be a bit of an anti-hero and Kimmy is her starry-eyed foil, the blonde needed a flaw to make her human, and she needed it sooner than it came. For example, her awful singing which was originally seen as an Achilles' heel ended up being praised. Maybe it's my gravitation towards reasonably flawed characters, but I feel Jules was the reality check Kimmy needed - i.e. the dinner scene with the suggestion for Walter's company. And what really made me mad was when Kim said 'you came here pretending to be my friend'. Every part of me was screaming "Rain check Kim! You saw Jules as a threat from the start!" When Jules said 'you didn't trust me for a second', I cheered since the Hyde had been awakened from Kimmy's figurative Dr. Jekyll at long last. After all, she is the ultimate dark horse in the film.

Hmm, I disagree (with all respect of course).

But Kimmy did say to Jules "Michael trusted you, so I trusted you." Yeah, she was intimidated by her, but she still wanted to be her friend. She knew that she was important to Michael so maybe she felt she could break that barrier between them by being overly nice. It didn't work out since Jules is a b*th and was planning on breaking them up from the start. Jules already hated her. So could she have broken that barrier? I would totally feel the same way as Kimmy. Any woman would feel that way if they were meeting their fiance's best friend who is beautiful woman. Especially if they did have a romantic relationship like they did beforehand.

I don't think Kimmy should be flawed like you mentioned. That's what makes her "the one" to Michael. That's what makes the audience want to root for Kimmy and not Jules. She's nice. Maybe too nice for some people, but she overall was a good person. Way better than Jules as a person. I think her being very innocent is what made her character.

I do agree with this. the first time I saw this film, Kimmy rubbed me the wrong way too. She just seemed to fake and manipulative. i felt like everything she was doing and her behavior throughout the film seemed like she knew exactly what she was doing. and yes, I felt like Jules was the more realistic character, and even though Jules was in the wrong and shouldn't have kissed Michael, Kimmy was pretending to be her friend too.

I think Kimmy's only "flaw" was she was too young and naive. I don't think she viewed Jules as a threat. Why would she have gone out of her way to bond with her?

Her only flaws were she can't sing, a little "blonde" in the head, kinda lacked direction and seemed to value a relationship over happiness. Michael wasn't exactly a huge catch.

A person hates you because they either wanna be you, see you as a threat, or hate themself
