The bad guy is ridiculously obvious about ten minutes into this. But as I was watching, I read something in the comment section suggesting it's not the person you think.

So I hung in there, waiting for it to be someone ELSE. Could Charlie The Handyman still be alive? Will the detective whip off that wig and reveal himself as some long lost relative with a grudge? Hmmmm, the only other character we've seen is the hypnotist's secretary. . .?

Nope. Don't waste your time. It turns out exactly the way you thought it would.
