I feel sorry for Stanley Tong for this movie.

He's not a bad director. He did a few Jackie Chan movies:

Police Story 4: First Strike (1996)
Rumble in the Bronx (1995)
Police Story 3: Super Cop (1992)
The Myth (2005)

This has been his only American movie.
