Gustave Flaubert quote

Does someone recall the Gustave Flaubert quote in the movie?

reply

I think it's "At the end of every relationship, there comes a time when the beloved is already gone" or something to that effect. Sorry for the late reply... the movie is on WE right now, lol.

And here I thought it was from Gustav Flaubert the plumber who said "If you have a heart then you must fart." or something like that.

Nothing exists more beautifully than nothing.

reply

Unfortunately, no. Easier to find a bad poet than a good plumber in NYC.

reply

I used to have it writen down, can't find it.
It was from A Sentimental Education and begins "In every parting there is a moment when...." then something like, "the beloved is already gone from us."

You better understand I'm in love with myself Myself My beautiful self

reply

8 years later... and tonight I found that piece of paper in a moving box.

“In every parting there comes a moment when the beloved is already no longer with us.”

For those interested, the original of the quote is:

Il y a un moment, dans les séparations, où la personne aimée n’est déjà plus avec nous.
