is this movie sort of the foundation for the newest disney pixar movie ratatouille

it seems like it to me but i would like some other opinions

No, only the poster of it is the inspiration.

Well, the last scene surely prefigures RATATOUILLE, but it's only fair that Disney would rip this off.

I mean, MOUSE HUNT is DreamWorks movie produced by Jeffrey Katzenberg, who used to work at Disney. The very title suggests thta Katzenberg was targeting Disney, going on a "mouse hunt" to grab their audience.

Well the scene where he avoids all the rat traps and stars climbing up to the kitchen certainly resembles RATATOUILLE, or better said, RATATOUILLE resembles that scene.
I do think there is inspiration from this movie.

hardly. the only similarities is they both center around a mouse, and there are mouse chasing scenes. and just about any movie that involves a mouse in human settings will have mouse chase scenes.

RATATOUILLE stems off from an embryonic concept set up in the final scene of MOUSEHUNT. Other than that, the two really don't have much else in common. The characters are quite different.

I thought of the same thing when I watched Mousehunt. Needless to say, I watched Ratatouille before Mousehunt.
