How much is fact?

It's odd there isn't more discussion on this film. What is up?

How much of this is fact, and how much is fiction? I don't mean about the experiment itself, which is well documented, but the events portrayed in the film. Was there a Caleb? Did Miss Evers/Rivers testify before a Senate Subcommittee, and in that manner? Where are the transcripts?

Anyone know why the film gets the number of men wrong? (412 versus 399?)

Apparently the Herxheimer reaction is real (a temporary release of toxins into the body, due to the death of the bacteria) but not deadly. They would have known this at the time, or white people wouldn't get getting the penicillin either.
