What was with Will Smith wardrobe at the beginning of the movie. The first thing he is wearing looks like a prison jumpsuit. Then hes wearing some parachute paints. I don't remember people wearing that kind of stuff in the 90's.
shareWell they did. Especially in music videos. But I also thought it was a little much because he was a cop. Even if he was undercover I think whoever put his wardrobe together or whoever got the final input on wardrobe was a bit out of touch. However this wasn't really a realistic movie so it didn't bother me so much. It may have been intentionally overly stylish on second thought. To set up his character. He's basically the opposite of Agent K.

I watched it for the first time last night and the first thing I thought when I saw Will was "Hoy 90s that's a tacky outfit!" but Kelea7 makes a really good point, I think it was to set him up as being very colorful and an individual to clash both with TLJ and the MIB in general.

His gear was fresh and that was typical dress of a young person from New York around that time cause places like N.Y. and L.A. fashion was ahead of other parts of the U.S. which some(mostly old folks) saw as different or weird.
I also agree with the other post: it was way to play up how different he was compared to K and your typical MIB recruit.
