K asking the bug to eat him was very dangerous

I mean what if the bug ate K piece by piece. Then K would be dead. Right? Why would he jeopardize his life and also put the entire planet in danger? I just don't get that. I know that he did it to get his gun back, but it was extremely dangerous.

my same thoughts

Just saw this on TV and thought the same thing. However 1) I don't think he did it simply because he wanted the gun, he was making a last effort to kill it from the inside out 2) Maybe he knows something about this type of alien, that they ingest food in large/whole pieces and digest them slowly over time

reply

Maybe.

Maybe he was suicidal and simply wanted out of the MIB. Having survived the cockroach eating him, he then got himself neutralised and retired from MIB. Maybe he hated it THAT much.
Or maybe it was just a comedy and I'm reading far too much into it.

It's not the years, honey; it's the mileage.

He knew the gun would still fire in the alien's stomach, so its safe to assume he knew enough about how they eat things to know that he would survive being eaten.

reply

Veteran MIB agent.

Given he had a thingy that could recognize the Bug's traces -- it's enough to assume the MIB knows a lot about this species.

So probably he knew that this species of aliens eat their prey whole and digest it gradually.

reply

Exactly. :)

Very bizarre, given their connection to insects and cockroaches in particular... but it's a highly evolved insect!

By the way who was the most evil Men In Black villain?

reply

Looking at that thing's teeth, he's damn lucky it doesn't chew.

reply

Still, K had to hold his breath for about four minutes inside the alien's stomach. What's up with that, yo?

reply

Maybe K was familiar with the bugs and knew they swallow their food whole. In which case it was a calculated risk.

reply

Of course it was dangerous!

But since the planet was going to destroyed in a few minutes anyway, that didn't matter. He was going to die one way or another if he didn't get that gun, so as horrible as being swallowed was, it was his only hope of survival.
