Edgar's apperance throughout the movie

When the bug first takes Edgar's skin it looks pretty much just like it did, but as the days go on the skin naturally begins to decompose and fall apart. When he goes to morgue and talks about getting the cat back look how horrible the skin looks, the eye is glazed over as well. By the time he goes to get in the spaceship at then end the skin is nearly rotted and useless!

As a kid I kind of noticed it but didn't really think of it, but its really genious work by the costume and visual designers!

I agree! Good detail. Considering the host body of Edgar is a corpse!

The guy that played Edgar deserved the saturn award. Such a memorble performance. It's a shame that guy hasn't been in more movies.

To me, Edgar was the highlight of the film. Vincent D'Onofrio stole every scene he was in, he played the part so well that I consider him the best of MIB.

reply

I am a big fan of D'Onofrio's and I watch this every time its on which lately on AMC has been a lot. He gets progressively worse looking as the film goes on and still I'm swooning over the guy, LOL!

reply

Hmm? Vincent D'Onofrio is in a lot of movies.

I agree! It's super gross, but in a good way. The Bug is one of my favorite villains because of how different it is and acts.

You'd think the roach would have just acquired a synthetic skin somewhere along the way, but I'm glad it didn't. Although I did feel slightly bad for Edgar...

reply

Agreed!!! D'Onofrio was awesome as the villain and am glad he's playing the human antagonist in Jurassic World.

reply

If you liked Vincent in MIB watch him in "The Salton Sea". He plays a very intense character!!! I won't spoil it for you.

reply

Great catch.

I watched some of this on TV the other day after not having seen it in years - can't believe it was made in 1997. The special effects are incredible.

I can't say enough about Vincent D'Onofrio's performance and Rick Baker's make-up (he's the best in the business). Amazingly realistic. So much that it's downright grotesque and repulsive.

true dat. cool they did it like that for sho

reply

Yeah, the skin is swell, but the corker for me is the rigor mortis, and that's all D'Onofrio.

reply

What I want to know is how the hell that enormous cockroach creature could fit inside human skin. That thing was at least fifteen feet long with that huge tail and so many legs, doesn't seem too plausible that it could squeeze into Edgar's form like that.
