Is it a great movie?

No, not really. All in all it is just ok. But for some reason, it is hard for me to really explain, I just really like this film a lot. I suppose I just find the acting and situation with Anthony Hopkins to be superb and I really can't stand the Drew character and love to see him get his in the end.

I watch it almost every time I'm channel surfing and stumble across it.

Many complain about Susan's facial expressions but I found this actress to be absolutely breathtaking.

Opening car scene is one of the best in cinematic history. It's very difficult to overcome audience expectation when you open your movie like that.
So that scene will be remembered, but nothing more

I remember liking it a lot when I first saw it in theatres... I haven't seen it since and wonder what it would be like on a second viewing...

A little Anthony Hopkins goes a long way. 3 hours of Anthony Hopkins in a lead role can even make up for Brad Pitt playing the Grim Reaper In Love.

I agree with you -- it wasn't a great film, but it did have something that made it worth watching. Call it vibe, atmosphere, whatever.

And, yes, Claire Forlani is lovely.

I think it's the great cast that draws you in. I have some movies like that. Like someone above said, Anthony Hopkins is terrific in even the worst movies. I know a lot of people think Brad Pitt is overrated, but I love that man! I think he is a natural actor and easy on the eyes. Claire Forlani is so beautiful and charming. I get it!

I was so confused by it when i saw it for the first time. I was only 14. But i tried it a second time when i was probably a junior and it quickly became a favorite film of mine. It's slow, but deep. The acting by the entire cast was exceptional. Thomas Newman's score was endearingly haunting. The story is original and interesting. It belongs in a vault with Sunset Boulevard and Citizen Kane.

I’m glad to see it now getting the appreciation it deserves. It’s kind of become a cult classic.
