the reason why the movie bombed

It was a good movie I think, good ideas and all. But the reason why it bombed I think is because the music score was louder than the characters dialogue, you have to either turn up the tv or really listen closely to hear them talk. I think if this was the problem with the movie when in theaters, then I can see why it failed. The music overburdens the story, it distracts from any brilliance brought forth by direction or character/plot development. Your music can't outshine your movie unless the movie sucks, and this movie doesn't suck, so the music should have slightly lower key

It bombed because the story wasn't compelling enough for viewers and possibly bad marketing as well.

The movie bombed because the music was louder that the people? Wouldnt that knowledge require seeing the movie? Which means they bought a ticket...do u see where im going with this?? Your theory is *beep*

Even though I don't agree with the OP, word of mouth travels fast. People often tell family and friends about movies they just saw. If someone said they didn't like a movie because they couldn't hear the dialogue or any other reason it could sway a person not to see a film or just wait to rent it.

Don't know if it bombed. When it came out in the theatres, it got so-so reviews.

I've seen this movie more than a handful of times now, and each time, we need to put on the captions. I agree the mix of music and dialogue is all wrong.

Great movie!!

Yeah, I wondered why I had to use subtitles for Pitt and Forlani. Not for Hopkins, though. I get that Death had his own low-energy kind of passive aggressive "I'm important, so I get to mumble" bullshit, but it's as annoying to watch in a movie as it is in real life. I couldn't hear him half the time and wanted to slap him. I have exceptionally good hearing.

Nothing quite tells you you're watching blatant Oscar bait like a Thomas Newman score, so it was an appropriate choice
