Is there a real town of Balanagraw(I know I totally crucified the spelling)?

there is no ballynagra that i know of. the movie was filmed in a town called roundstone in the connemara area. it's very small town and a really nice place to visit. some of the filming was also done in inishnee, which is very close by.

What about the Erin Isle? (I know I pelled in wrong again)

The Aran Isles are a real group of small islands off the coast of Ireland.

Baile na Gra is not a real town, but in Irish it means "Town of Love" which is fitting since the movie is about matchmaking!

Ballinagra. They also spelled it Baile na Gra.

But don't sweat for the spelling :)

I have a friend who just moved there. The town is called Roundstone, it's west of Galway.

Baile na Gra isn't an actual town, but the village of Lisdoonvarna in Co. Clare holds an annual matchmaking festival that is famous throughout Europe and a big tourist attraction.

If you ever get to Roundstone, it is well worth the trip. There are many signs about that state things like "Here is where the souvenir shop was filmed!"

All the locals I met were more than happy to share stories about the filming and point out spots of interest. Interestingly, they had nothing but nice things to say about all the cast members--except David O'Hara, who "kept to himself." Not a bad thing, just not as open as the rest of the cast. Denis O'Leary was the favorite.

When I was there, I took a picture on the quay where the bus accident occurred.
