Who else got really annoyed with the parents?

Decent film--gave it a 7/10, but I think my score went down a point because I was consistently annoyed with Ludovic's parents. For most of the film, they seemed like completely horrible people to me.

they were just struggling with there own demons the dad was in fear of losing his job, and sadly they saw there son as nothing but a freak. they were disappointing but sadly true to life within some cultures

Well they tried to show just how it was for them to accept that their son wanted to be a girl. The dad you could tell was mostly embarrassed with the things that ludo came up with, like dressing in his deceased boss' girl's clothing, and show up at the party dressed like a girl, but the mom could really be a bitch about it.

Her behavior turnaround was the hardest to accept because she had been in his corner for so long and then just turned on him so viciously! I wanted him to run away and never come back. Her revelation at the end is absurd - as if she knows anything about him just because she took a baby step into his fantasy instead of dealing with his reality.

I agree with you completely, cinemajunky! It was scary how she was all on Ludo's side in the principal's office and then in the next scene she's being nasty.

Then she turns into this horrible monster (while the father magically mellows out) and is one until Chris's mother snaps her out of it!
Geez, I wanted to slap her so hard!

Blaming all your community's ignorance and intolerance on your 7 year old child is not ok!
She's lucky Ludo forgave her so easily!

Agree with both of you. The realisation was just so unreal.

One minute she looks likes she wants to kill him - the dad as well for that matter - then when she wakes up everything is all rosy (See what I did there?)

Enjoyed the film, but that ruined it. I too just wanted Ludovic to run off. Preferably to live with the grandmother.
