Does anyone know the final result of this tragedy?

Does anyone happen to know if Graham and Zamora were given a life sentence, or what happened or is it still on trial? And, where in Texas this incident occurred?

reply

they were both convicted in 98 and are not eligible for parole for 40 years... they also avoided the death penalty at the request of the murdered girls mother

I think it was a way for her to raise above their level and by the same occasion, to make her daughter's memory raise above them. It's not about forgiveness, I think, but about acknowledging that you're better than murderers by not committing murder yourself to get your revenge.

Truthfully, it's why I'm against the death penalty, because you don't solve murder by murder, it's been proven that it doesn't discourage other people from killing and a lot of executed people have been proven innocent after their death, which in my opinion is reason enough to stop such a pratice. In my opinion, the best punishment is prison to life, but *really* to life. And not a prison with tv and a gym, prison with three grey walls and bars, the basics for hygiene and meals. Books, maybe, but no comforts (I'm talking for maximum security prison - obviously people that have done small crimes should not have to go through that treatment). Prisons today are like summer camp, with even more accommodations and truthfully, other than being away from the rest of the world and their family, there's no real punishment. It's becoming a fiscal weight on our society and that money should be put elsewhere, mostly in education and the care of children to make sure that tomorrow's adults grow up to be good people - that's the real recipe to lowering the crime rates.

Seriously. Some death row people get transplants. Some life sentence people get degrees because they have the time/money/resources. Heck, I should go.

It's not that she forgave them. She said she didn't want their parents to go through what she has by having dead children.

That is so screwed up. Even after all that, the two killers didn't stay together.

Wow...this happened when I was in like 2nd grade.
My sister went to the same high school Adrianne and David went to (Mansfield High School), and I'm a senior there now...we all still talk about this murder every now and then in classes.
Diana went to another high school I think.

The murder happened at Joe Pool Lake near mansfield.

Diana went to Crowley High School in Crowley, Texas.

They both got life sentences, eligable for parole in 2038.
however they must spend the minimum of 40 years behind bars.
Apparently Diane got married to a Steven Mora.

reply

All 1st degree murderers should get the death penality.
It's not about revenge. It's about getting what you
dished out. Fair is fair!

Only problem with that is that we're finding more and more people who were wrongfully convicted. It might suck to be in prison for 20+ years for something you didn't do, but at least being alive you'll have a chance to get out. If they just automatically executed everybody, there would be no chance for a person to be proven innocent and have a chance at happiness in the rest of their life.

RIP 2009. Bad year for Celebrities. Now Haiti too
