Portraying Blind people

I never quite accepted Bobby being blind. The character seems to be some romanticized ideal of a blind person, not a realistic person.

Since his boyfriend owns the house and he spends the month of June there, we assume he's been there many times, even lived there. Yet he needs to be led around and warned about steps (and he never uses a cane).

Maybe it's just a case of stage direction and acting don't quite translate to film.

I got the impression that Bobby didn't need that much help, but was too nice to shrug off the offers and kindnesses of his friends. A lot of times it's easier to just let them feel better.

At least one of the occasions it was his boyfriend who offered "help".
