For the people who LIKED this film

I personally loved this film. I am currently studying Francis Bacon in my history of art class and when I read about him and George Dyer's relationship i thought "wow, that would make an excellent film/book" so was obviously delighted to have found this!

The film was so beautiful and yet horrifying, one day after watching it and I still cant get it out of my head! So for the people who liked this film this thread is to discuss the aspects/scenes of the film you liked, found particularly disturbing, and also discuss the symbology you picked up on.

First and foremost, the most memorable scenes for me was when Dyer was scrubbing his hands violently in the sink and Bacon stops him and holds him. This was one of the few scenes in which I really picked up on the love they felt for each other at the beginning, before (in my opinion) the love became obsession for them both. I also love how Dyer was presented by the wonderful daniel craig at the beginning of the film, with innocence despite being a criminal. You can see that for Bacon (who had been abused in relationships in the past) he was a breath of fresh air and he found him fascinating. I also love the two scenes where you see them spooning in bed.

The one scene I found the most memorable (and disturbing) was the one were Francis Bacon is having his photo taken in the photo booth and cant stop imagining his "dead lover". I genuinly think Dyers death affected him worse than people thought. His fascination with death and pain and suffering meant that George dying had to be the ultimate final step of their relationship, but then once he was gone he realised how he had used Dyer like a toy, loving him when it suited him and losing interest once the novelty ended.

Also the only symbology I picked up on was all the signs that Dyer was going to die, such as when the blood splattered on Bacon's face at the wrestling match, foreseeing that Dyer would pay for Bacon's fascination with his life, and that he gave his life to Bacon.

Id like to hear everyones thoughts :)
