He used to be sexy

Man was I creeped out when I saw Mickey Rourke in this film. His looks were a far cry from the rugged good looks he had in the original 9 1/2 and Wild Orchid. He was so bloated looking and went a little far with plastic surgery in this movie making the love scenes look creepy.

Anyone with me on this????

I agree. Back in the 80's,he looked SUPERSEXY but in this movie,he looks so exhausted & recently,he looks terrible. What the hell did he do to himself & why?

JCY, I'm a HUGE fan of the Mick. I've bought 3 magazines in the last month, due to articles in them about him. I'm going to go see The Wrestler as quickly as I can. I'm so excited that he has a great role again.

That said, I have to agree with ivyjade. I'm sitting here, looking @ the cover of Diner, & he doesn't even look like the same person.

Women used to drool over him & the low purr of his voice.

Now, we'll have to content ourselves with some GREAT acting.

The plastic surgery he did was the cause of the boxing career he persued until 1995 which did some real damage to his face. That was probably the worst mistake to make to go into boxing while his acting career was going so well.
The weight he gain he actually was heavy from before, if you rent a film called "Heaven's Gate" 1980, he was much younger but he was as heavy as he was in Love for Paris or now. I guess all this surgery, two divorces, his fall of acting career can bring on some depression as Rourke states he is in therapy once a week. He may have his lost looks but non of us look the same all the time, I still think he is slowly making a come back and he is still a good actor.

He definetly got messed up. Upper lip looks like it has a lot of scar tissue and his teeth look fake. Also his chin looks too pronounced.

The surgeries he's had due to boxing injuries HAVE altered his features some. But by no means do I think that Mick has lost his looks or appeal! Looking at his face the way it is now, I can still see alot of the old Mickey in there!
Has everybody seen the recent EW phootshoot? That's one HOT mofo right there;)

he looks like Bruce Willis. in the 80's

reply

Bruce Willis in the 80's - no way. Bruce looked cool in the Die Hard films and in Moonlighting. He didn't at all have the beaten up work done look that Mickey has at the moment.

You see how they're filming him in the dark and from far away a lot of the time at the beginning of the film. He's scary looking and they're just trying to make the best of a bad situation. The worse thing he could of done was try to follow up a movie where he was one of the best things in it, with this crap, where he's not. (in terms of looks)Kim knew better.

it was on FLIX tonight and man was his face stretched. he looked like the joker. he didnt get plastic surgery cuz of his boxing. he got it cuz of his wrinkles and he over did it. there's lots of boxers that look the same after years of boxing. unless he got the *beep* kicked out of him everytime he went in the ring..

reply

Looking at his face now and comparing to that of just few years ago you can definitely say that Rourke is somewhat addicted to plastic surgery.

reply

Something about his face looked off, the hair looked too black and idk just weird. This was depressing and pointless compared to the original that was fun and very 80s which I love. This one was horrible.
