Why does everyone hate the T-Rex in San Diego part??

I thought it was awesome. I remember seeing this movie twice in theaters. (I've seen all 4 of them in theaters) and this scene is just so much fun.

Why all the hate??? It's Spielberg's little homage to King Kong. Even the boat that carries the Rex is called the Venture (same boat from King Kong)

Can someone please give me a good reason why they hate this part of the movie so much?

Who wouldn't want to see a T-Rex terrorizing a city? People are so cynical and hard to please.

I liked it.

They did the scene perfectly nothing was sloppy, rewatch it and just look at the way they built the suspense. the camera movements, effects, and everything was perfect except for the part with the boat having pieces of body parts that somehow were from the trex even though it couldnt have possibly fit in there but just watch it and look.

It bloated the film. Spielberg himself has said that dinosaurs getting to the mainland was something he wanted to explore in JP3 but when he realised he would be unlikely to direct the third film, he tagged it on here.

Lack of attention to detail ruined this movie. Good concepts gone awry due to an undiscerning director's eye and low respect in the editing room. This was the last JP movie I ever watched. It was bad enough to kill my interest in it forever.
