Vince Vaughn is the villain (spoilers)

Most everyone who dies in the film dies because of his actions. And he gets away. Sure, it was dumb for the Ingen people to even go there to try and exploit the dinosaurs. But he causes the most deaths with his actions, including Eddie Carr, who was not even a part of the evil corporation.

He's like those people who complain when a dog or cat dies in a movie where dozens of people are also violently killed. -_-

Oh, and he's a racist, when he pointlessly comments on Kelly's lack of physical resemblance to her father.

He's like one of those extremist PETA people who think it's okay to blow up pharmaceutical labs even if they are people still inside.

Think of all the people he effectively killed when he took the shells out of Tembo's rifles. Tembo was the only one who could have prevented the T-Rex rampage, and perhaps spared some of the team's losses, but Nick doesn't care. 

Plus, he selfishly buggers off during the last part of the movie. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the one who released the T-Rex from the ship, and then gleefully sat back on his couch and watched the TV footage of the T-Rex rampaging San Diego whilst guzzling a (vegan-friendly) beer.

Eddie's reaction makes me love him even more. He just noncommittally nods rather than go along with Nick and make a big deal of it.

Eddie was clearly the nicest one of the bunch. He was into his hardware and weaponry, but despite all that, he was still reluctant to kill any of the dinosaurs, especially the herbivores, even when Ian Malcolm was urging him to fire a poisonous dart at them.

remember saying this when the film came out no one agreed.
he frees the dinosaurs who ravage the camp they cant call for help since all the stuff is now smashed up . he doesn't get prosecuted for all the deaths that he could have prevented by simply not letting multi ton reptiles loose in their camp.
pete postlewaite should have just shot him in the face

Damn, I LOVE the idea of fixing the plot hole of the t rex escape by having Nick do it... And then get eaten when the doors open because he thinks the rex will know he's an "ally". This needs to be canon now!

Is your avatar depicting the powered armor from Jin-Roh?

I go into any movie with Vaughn already assuming he's the villain.

You are sin.

It's a new year, time to check the IMDB page for JP2 and make sure there's an ongoing thread about how terrible Nick Van Owen is... Yep. Good.

Seriously, this has annoyed me since I first saw the movie in cinemas. Nick is a POS who gets people killed both by accident and on purpose, yet he and indeed the movie tries to make us think he's heroic.

Hey, I believe in treating animals right too, but if Nick had shown me he'd stolen those bullets I'd have thrown him out of the helicopter on the spot! Nevermind turning stampeding dinos loose in that camp, or bringing a bleeding baby rex to the trailer!

The ONE change though I always wanted was that Nick died in San Diego, foolishly stepping between the rex and military trying to stop the rampage in a misguided attempt to show the rex that he's a "friend"... right before getting eaten! Funny that they sort of gave that death to someone in Jurassic World, but it would have fit Nick FAR better. Douchebag.

I've seen plenty of "living off the land" survivalists or even just very enthusiastic gun owners with more than one United States flag that extol the virtues of canines while putting down fellow homo sapiens. Pretty sure they weren't "ultra left libtards". Keep up the strawmanning, though.

Yep he's without a doubt the worst character in the film. He's at worst an eco terrorist and at best an opportunist. The fact that SS paints him in a sympathetic light is laughable and a testament to SS's left wing view points.
