Johnny Depp AND David Tennant?!

Wow. That is AWESOME!

'Obsessed' is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated.
Rumrunner!

I just saw that too! lol

David Tennant is so darling :D

reply

And darling David is every bit as mesmerising and charismatic as Johnny in this one. No, more so!

But do bear in mind, it is a terrible film. Absolutely awful. It's just great because it has David Tennant and Johnny Depp. You will just laugh the whole way through it!

Actually, I think this is a wonderful film, and not just because it has David Tennant and Johnny Depp in it. But I suppose it takes a certain kind of person to enjoy the film's style. Mika Kaurismäki and his brother Aki Kaurismäki share a satirical and rather bizarre style in their films. You say you laughed, like that's a bad thing. This IS a comedy. I think it's unfair of you to call this a terrible film just because it might not suit your cultural stand-point and personal taste.

I'm from Australia - so i don't know if i can even get this - but how big is David's role? Is he one of the main characters? Is Johnny just a cameo?
Ta.

I've heard that Johnny's role was a cameo, but David was the main part!

It's on youtube. Johnny Depp is barely in it. He's in like a few brief scenes with David Tennants character, and just 2 of them one where he's actually interacting with Depp... the others are David talking to a movie poster of Johnny which sort of comes alive and responds wordlessly by winking or making a face of some sort.
David Tennant is pretty much the lead actor of the film, but he's certainly not as swoon-worthy as the DOctor or other roles he's played of late.. I think because he was so young (comparitively) when he did this- as someone ssaid on another thread on this film- he does look awfully pasty and gawky,,Certainly a bit weedy... He did a good job in it though, he was quite funny and made his character Richard more charming even thought you wanted to slap him (richard) upside the head for being so naive and mooning over the girl in the film.. Also on that note, Tennant's character gets punched out an awful lot in this film- he apparently gets smacked around in alot of his other films and someone made a funny youtube video about it using footage from this movie. If you type 'David Tennant Punching Bag' in the search, it should come up.

reply

That's very true. I actually think that the character of Richard is rather unlikeable. But it just goes to show how fantastic David really is, that he manages to portray a character like that so well. He's really human and a bit pathetic, and I like that about a film character. :)

reply

lol, if you think he looks pasty and gawky in this, you obviously haven't seen 'Taking the Asylum' GAWD He was young in that.... still cute. The hair was a tad iffy, but its Tennant lol. So its alllll good.

I finally saw all 6 episodes (hard to find on the net thats not YouTube) and thought he was adorable! Loved Campbell Bain's 80s hair! Haha

This movie is in my Netflix queue next. Hope it's worth it. At least it has eye candy ;)
