Something strange about the clothing in this movie.

This may have been brought up before - or maybe no one noticed - but all of the clothes were very..... olive/dark green/gray/brown. Like Fletcher's suits - and the suits of other people. Even Audrey's clothes had that color. And, it's kind of strange that I noticed that because that's when I started my I.T. career and I had to buy "nice" clothes and I remember that year (1997) where those colors were in style. I went to a work function a few weeks back, I had lost some weight and threw on my very pimp olive color suit and I stood out like a turd in a punch-bowl. Even though it looks classy it seems like it doesn't hold up. Strange.....

No real reason to share that... I just noticed as I watched it again this past weekend.

Yeah, that is noteworthy, no navy suits with bright blue ties or anything. Even the cars are mostly grey/silver/tan.

Clearly not inadvertent, leaving us to ponder - WHY?

Can't begin to imagine why.

Contrast-based focus concentration?

I mean, if you want to emphasize a color, you can make everything else colorless. If you want for people to focus on a performance, you can make everything around it bland, so nothing disturbs that focus.

But at least the PEN is blue!!

I never thought of that but it is a good point. Now thinking about it though it makes sense for lawyers to wear colors like that. Though I have no idea what Audrey's job is.

I have never seen this film. However, directors often specify color palettes in order to convey something (emotion, alliances, mood and so forth) in a film. It is quite common. The director may have been trying to convey something with the color palette.
