Why did Audrey have to pay the impound?

Fletcher is a lawyer, obviously he has lots of money, and it was his car. I understand her driving him there cause his car was impounded, but why did she have to pay the bill?

Maybe his wallet and money were inside the car. Maybe he told her he would pay her back later if he didn't have the money on him.

That's ridiculous! Everyone ought to have their wallet on them except when they are at home.

If his checkbook was in the car he wouldn't have been able to get it in order to pay and the impound may not have taken a credit card.

Doesn't make sense. Why would he leave it in the car when he has plenty of time to take everything he wants before the car is towed away?

Also, he paid the cab, so why couldn't he pay for the car, too?

Well the amount was hundreds of dollars so it may have been beyond his Credit Card limit.
