He actually lied when he was supposedly could only tell the truth

He told his secretary he didn't understand the question after he told her he could have gotten the robber more money for falling through the sky light.

reply

He's not Jose Canseco either.

reply

So he actually lied twice.

reply

That was not a lie. He really DIDN'T understand the question the way the secretary meant it. He didn't realize what was being asked. He saw the question from a completely different angle, thus he misunderstood WHAT WAS BEING ASKED (in other words, the question).

Also, I think José is spelled the way I just spelled it.

(José Canseco Capas Jr. is his full name)

This bit wasn't a lie, either. He was talking about what role he will take, whom he will be 'in the role' when they play baseball. He didn't mean he will literally be that famous baseball player, he meant, he will "play as him", and for the purposes of the game and childlike-imagination role-play to amuse the kid, he will be José Canseco.

Besides, when you really take the role of someone or something, in a very real way (though maybe not physically or literal way), you DO 'become' that someone. That is the best acting method, because that goes beyond 'acting', and it's the art of 'becoming'. When you 'become' someone, you are basically 'in character' as deeply as you can be, instead of just pretending to be someone.

He could have meant this type of 'being someone' also, getting into the character so that he IS him.

Are old movie ads lying, when they say things, like "Arnold Schwarzenegger IS The Terminator"? No. They are referring to him 'becoming' that very role (not the actual machine, but the role) for the duration of the movie.

So it's not a lie, it's perfectly truthful.

Fletcher DID lie when he wasn't supposed to be able to, but not in either of these cases.

So when a kid says "I'll be Darth Vader" in their make-belief game filled with imagined characters, the kid is not lying. His statement does NOT mean that he will literally and actually undergo a transmogrification, where Darth Vader's soul will incarnate his body and then change it into a partially mechanized, enormous form with black mask, breathing apparatus and a long cape.

It only means that he will become 'Darth Vader' for a certain purpose, to fill a certain role, in a certain, imaginary way.

"Not being literal" is not the same thing as lying, you know.

To add to this, you can always NAME yourself anything you want - it's your right as a human being. People on other planets don't use names the same way we do, their names change when they do, and their names have more history, meaning, depth and description about their deepest selves, and so on.

If you have a pet, plant, or any object you own, you can name it anything you want. You own NOTHING as much as you own your soul, your physical body, your astral body, your thoughts, your self, and so on.

Therefore, WHY couldn't you name yourself ANYTHING you want at ANY POINT IN TIME for ANY REASON whatsoever? What Universal law forbids it? What physical law stops you? What cosmic police will come and put you to jail? Err, ok, Fletcher WAS put to jail around this point in time, but that's beside the point.

Naming yourself José Canseco is perfectly within your rights, no matter how temporary that naming might be. People are too brainwashed to blindly accept the 'person'-type concept of a 'name', and identifying with that temporary strawman or legal fiction. You are not your name, but you are also not the 'person's name' (which is a different thing, and is always written slightly differently - for example, 'surname, first', or 'surname in capitals', 'all in capitals', and so on).

I could talk about 'names' and how weird that concept is to me for pages, but I hope I made my point - - the point of course being, IT IS NOT A LIE.

That wasn't a lie. He answered the question from the point of view of justice for the robber. But once he had answered he realised he was being asked if it was justice for the burglary victim.
