Best Jim Carrey movie?

This movie always makes me laugh whenever I see it, even if it's just randomly on TV. The concept of this movie is just brilliant and fits Jim Carrey's comedic personality to a tee. Not only does it fit Carrey, you can feel his "crazy" because it makes you feel almost like how you would react if you couldn't lie, especially in his scenarios. This movie is seriously underrated too. Whenever people talk about classic comedic films or Jim Carrey, this seems to be one of the last movies they bring up. This is a classic in my book, definitely his funniest, for me.

I agree. My favorite Jim Carrey movie, and very underrated!

reply

True

reply

Not his best movie, but it is the funniest, imo.

reply

Can 100% agree with that.

reply

Totally agree!

I think it's kinda like Adam Sandler in Big Daddy or like the Metallica Black Album where it is the last of the good stuff but also the beginning of the bad stuff but in a way is the quintessential film or album

reply

I think that is spot on. Big Daddy and Liar, Liar gave Sandler and Carrey a taste of making more sentimental movies and less of the who-gives-a-crap-and-just-do-crazy-shit movies which to me are so much funnier than comedies that try to have a point. I guess that I can't blame them, they followed the money, but for a fan I would like to have seen those two doing nonsensical movies like Ace Ventura and Billy Madison to this day.

Funniest or best?

His best is The Truman Show (1998).

reply

Plus: The Majestic, Man on the moon and Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

reply

The Majestic? Interesting. Do you consider it a great film?

reply

I think its a great film. Didnt you see it yet?

reply

Majestic was a great film but I have to say I consider Truman his best.

reply

yes I agree. Man on the moon 2nd and the majestic 3rd.

reply

I have seen parts of it here and there, but never saw the whole thing. Really want to, though.

Try 'Once Bitten' from 1985, it's funny, and he gives a good performance for his age / experience.
