Was the wwhole divorce thing supposed to be SARC ASM? (Spoliers)

I find it hard to believe that the whole courtroom with the divorce sequence is meant to be taken seriously. The woman was an adulterer and some of her children were not even from him. Yet--they gave her everything she wanted anyways??

HAD to be sarcasm !!

My question about that whole sequence was- if a minor cannot enter a contract such as a prenuptial agreement without parental consent, could a minor legally marry without parental consent? So if the prenuptial agreement wasn't valid, was the marriage valid?

reply

Common law marriage applies to this situation because they were living together long enough.

Exactly, though California doesn't have common law marriages. Point is, yes both the pre-nup and the marriage license were both invalid but because they were together all that time they basically defaulted to married status.

Bingo! You got it! :)
