The end confused me

Because it showed James in an ominous light even though we find out in the end he is not the killer.
Last scene shows another working girl on the bench making a statement about getting in trouble being out this late at night to which James says, "That's the idea" . WTF is this supposed to mean? I thought he did not commit the murder so what are they implying here?

Apparently you got tricked just like the two cops. Wayland was obviously lying.

I've seen it a zillion times and still not absolutely positive who the killer is. Either way though...Tim was awesome in it!!

Hi movie_nazi...I believe Wayland is the killer. He lies through the entire movie and messes with Kennisaw's head to the point of making him seem guilty. But Kennisaw is only guilty of psychologically killing his wife...it wasn't real...but it was real enough in his mind to trigger the polygraph to make him appear guilty. As Wayland pointed out earlier..."truth is in here" while circling his finger at his head. And also...why would Wayland go through such extremes if he was truly innocent? Why would he take pills to erase his memory and fake his own death? Only a person who is guilty of something would do that. Wayland was lieing from the very beginning. He lied when they first hooked him up...when he asked Braxton who Kennisaw was and Braxton said it was his collegue and asked Wayland if he bothered him he could ask him to leave. Wayland replied with a "no", but at the same time you see Wayland's foot bending...it's because he was lieing when he said no. That's body language.

He is the killer. Ken didnt kill her, that was his fetish for going to hookers and cought up so far in it he actually doesnt know anymore if he did or didnt kill her, and Wayland being a cumma sum laude psychologist plays on that perfectly.
The last scene is there to clear things up that he is the killer, and soon to be another dead hooker.
