another one called "Beat" from 2000 i think, it has keifer sutherland playin william burroughs and is about his time in mexico and leads up to the death of his wife joan, which is somewhat of a catalyst in his writing naked lunch, there movie is great, but not near as classic and visually drug induced as david cronenburgs movie "Naked Lunch". well worth finding it though. oh ya, ginsberg is a regular in this movie too :)

There's a rare film from 1980 called Heart Beat with Nick Nolte as Neal Cassidy and Sissy Spacec as his wife. I seem to remember it being rather good.

Supposedly, a movie version of Kerouac's masterpiece "On The Road" is slotted for release sometime in 06/07, with Brad Pitt starring...

There's a documentary I bought off eBay called "What Happened to Kerouac?". It's not very good, but there's footage of Kerouac reading poetry and cool stuff like that....

If you are particularly interested on Neal Cassady's life. I recommend you to watch the biopic 'Nel Cassady' released in 2007. Apparently only a handful of people have watched it, including myself.
It's a good independent flick, but here's a warning, just like 'The Last Time I Commited Suicide', those who have no idea about who was Neal Cassady nor about the Beat Generation, surely won't enjoy it as much as those who have read every book, article or essay published by the beatniks or about the beatniks.

Enjoy!

Pull My Daisy (1959) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052100/
Shouldn't be too hard to find online. Short, about 27 minutes.
Features Kerouac as narrator, also Ginsberg and Corso and lot of friends at a party.

The Source (1999) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0181833/
A TV doctumentary with texts read by Johnny Depp, Dennis Hopper and John Turturro.
"Traces the Beats from Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac's meeting in 1944 at Columbia University to the deaths of Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs in 1997. Three actors provide dramatic interpretations of the work of these three writers, and the film chronicles their friendships, their arrival into American consciousness, their travels, frequent parodies, Kerouac's death, and Ginsberg's politicization. Their movement connects with bebop, John Cage's music, abstract expressionism, and living theater. In recent interviews, Ginsberg, Burroughs, Kesey, Ferlinghetti, Mailer, Jerry Garcia, Tom Hayden, Gary Snyder, Ed Sanders, and others measure the Beats' meaning and impact."

Howl (2010) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1049402/
James Franco as Allen Ginsberg.
"As Allen Ginsberg talks about his life and art, his most famous poem is illustrated in animation while the obscenity trial of the work is dramatized."

On the Road (2012) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0337692/
Movie based on Kerouacs book, produced by FF Coppola, starring Sam Riley as Sal Paradise and Garrett Hedlund as Dean Moriarty.
Directed by Walter Salles (Motorcycle Diaries, 2004)
No release date yet, but probably sometime in 2012.
