In one shot at the ranch barnyard, Tom Selleck is briefly seen working at a portable forge with a large anvil on a stump. Later the anvil is seen sitting on the ground next to the barn. Being a big guy, I guess Tom just moves his anvil around whenever he feels like it. :)

A 100 or 150 lb. anvil is moveable by a man in good shape. I used to do it all the time. I think Tom could have done it, although I think you found a boo boo in the editing. 8=)
