What do you think happens next?

I've just finished watching the film and it's very good. I saw it years ago but couldn't remember it very well. I did remember it had a sad ending, and i was right! I always like things to have a happy ending, or at least a conclusive ending, but this doesn't. So i'm wandering, what will happen next do you think? With Joe and Stella i mean?

It's obvious they still love each other, but are they just going to go their seperate ways and only ever look back? The romantic in me hates that idea. I mean stella is getting a divorce, so she'll be free. I think it's right that joe doesn't run off with her - that would be wrong, but maybe Janet (his wife) chooses to divorce him, maybe runs off with someone else, or else dies in a tragic accident! Then, afte a few years Stella and Joe can get together!!
Not overly romantic, but i like my (eventual) happy endings. This ending leaves things hangind too much in my opinion!

So what do people think will happen next

Oh and has anyone read the book it's based on? If so, is it a good read?
