Can someone give me some advice?

I was assigned a paper for a religions class and it is discussing the quote "I will liberate those not liberated. I will release those not released. I will relieve those unrelieved. And set living beings in nirvana." Does anyone know the meaning of this so that it can be analysed.

reply

" I will liberate those not liberated" -- to help 'heal' people through religion..the ones still under Chinese persecution. He will lead these people.

"i will release those not released"...release through nirvana those that are being persecuted.

they all pretty much mean the same thing...the first of the identical words will be what he will do through religion and belief, and the 2nd being the physical action that has been done to his people.

he even mentions nirvana..he just means that he will continue to do is work and lead although it may be in another country.

Forget about it being to do with repressed people in aother country. Those 'not liberated', 'not released', 'those unrelieved' are all of us, we sentient beings still circling in suffering and rebirth. It is through wisdom and compassion that he will show us the way out of this suffering, thus setting us in Nirvana.

This is correct. Whether one is persecuted by the chinese government or a king of a country, we are all suffering. This quote is about getting rid of that suffering by following the path to enlightenment. The Dalai Lama is taking responsibility for others suffering. The Dalai Lama will continue to be reborn unitl all beings are free from their own suffering.
