I just rented and watched this film, and I thought it was perfect for the theme it was taking on, which was complicated and delicate.
When the Dalai Lama is starting his journey, after the "I see a safe journey, I see a safe return," quote, he has another line that REALLY stuck with me. I came to this site to see exactly how it was worded, but it isn't listed, so I was wondering if anyone who has the film could do this. The quote went something like:
"I pray to the 13 Dalai Lamas before me to not the world fall into darkness."
It was perfectly written and delivered, and in the context of the movie and the themes it was illustrating, made one of my favorite cinematic moments. If anyone could check and tell me exactly what it was or post it that would be great. Thanks!
I pray to all the Buddhas of the ten directions to light the lamp of Dharma for those groping in the darkness of suffering; please do not let the world fall into darkness.
Here is his final "speech". (I watched the movie and copied it word for word.) This is the most beautiful movie and it moves me to tears every time I watch it. These words also move me deeply. I also highly suggest the soundtrack.
I rejoice in the Awakening of the Buddhas. And also, in the spiritual levels of their Sons. With folded hands, I beseech the Buddhas of all directions. To shine the lamp of Dharma for all bewildered in the gloom of misery
With folded hands, I beseech all the Buddhas Who wish to pass away, To please remain for countless eons And not to leave the world in darkness
My foes will become nothing. My friends will become nothing. I, too, will become nothing. Likewise, all will become nothing
Just like a dream experience, Whatever things I enjoy Will become a memory. Whatever has passed will not be seen again.
I will liberate those not liberated. I will release those not released. I will relieve those unrelieved And set living beings in Nirvana
The Buddhas neither wash ill deeds away with water Nor remove beings’ suffering with their hands Nor transfer their realizations to others. Beings are released through the teachings of Truth, the final Reality
Thus by the virtue collected Through all that I have done, May the pain of every living Creature be completely cleared away

Nice job. the text is actually composed of quotations from the Heart Sutra, one of the central text for Buddhism. It's far more nicely translated than most existing modern language translation, I suspect that either the Dalai Lama himself or someone around him was letting a hand for help.
