You Americans are no better! (Do not enter if you get easily offended)

You stole most of your land from Indians, putting them into their own reservation, and massacred them. And you dare to call yourselves "American"? WTF? Tibet was China's continent for hundreds of years after it was first governed by China in Qing Dynasty. it has been always our land and it will be forever. You Americans suck! You believe Da Lai Lama? A religious extremeist who wants to separate Tibet from China for SIMPLY the religious differences. China eneded the slavery of Tibet, didn't you know that? You people really lack deep understanding of what's happening in China. I tell you what: The day you want Tibet to be "liberated", then return your lands to Hawaiians and Indians.

IN short, you Americans are no better! You were robbers robbing the land, and China simply reclaimed their property.

No psychical attack! No bitching! No curse words! Otherwise, get the hell out!

China: One of the best emerging countries on earth.

> Tibet was China's continent for hundreds of years after it was first governed by China in Qing Dynasty.

You must be quite ignorant about your own history.... With Qing dynasty you cannot claim "hundreds of years," since the temporal rule of Tibet by the Qing Dynasty was in the mid 19th century...

Anyway an effective "ruling" actually lasted shorter than the current ruling of Tibet by the PRC... And that doesn't change at all the fact that Tibetans are different from the Hans, the Chinese majority, their rights as minority indigenous people should be protected, not to forget that their basic human rights like the freedom of faith and expression should be protected (or for all citizens of the PRC, for that matters).

On the other hand, the Emperors of the Qing dynasty were not "Chinese" but Manchurian, and to them the Dalai Lama was their religious masters, since their official religion was the Gelug school of the Tibetan Buddhism, with the Dalai Lama as the highest priest. So do you want to say that China should be part of Mongolia, or being under Manchurian rule?

By the way the so-called "ruling" was in religious term nothing more than the followers fulfilling their duties to protect the Lama that they followed and respected.

> You people really lack deep understanding of what's happening in China.

You certainly lack any understanding of what is happening in and about Tibet. Even the late Panchen Lama who stayed under the Chinese rule and had even become an important government official criticized severely the way Tibet has been ruled. There has been massacres, temples destroyed (about 95 % of religious institutions that existed before the Chinese invasions are either destroyed or severely damaged), lands confiscated from the people, tortures, emprisonements which are even illegal under the Chinese law, bribes, governmental corruptions, starvations, forced abortions, etc. If you think it's a wise and realistic way to govern people of different national identities, you must be foolish.

The 14th Dalai Lama officially denied many many times that Tibet should be "independent." He claims Tibet must be given an autonomy with a complete democratic system as part of the People's Republic. Complete democracy of course mean electing political leaders and freedom of thoughts, ideologies, religions, and above all conscience. The fundamental problem is that none of these basic human rights are not yet proclaimed and protected in most areas in China.

So actually, what the Dalai Lama proposes is also for the betterment of the Chinese society as well--and the real primary reason why the PRC government now claims that the Dalai Lama is their enemy; if what he proposes would be applied to the Chinese society equally, then the present government may collapse in a matter of a few days.

> China eneded the slavery of Tibet, didn't you know that?

Didn't you know that there were no "slavery" in Tibet in the beginning of the 20th century at the first place? There were peasants, there were certainly social inequalities (though considerably less than in China), but "slaves"? No. It actually is just a case of mistranslation. The proper English term should have been "peasant" (though even the use of the term "peasant" was more or less an exaggeration regarding Tibet--"tenants" describes far better the actual situations).

> The day you want Tibet to be "liberated", then return your lands to Hawaiians and Indians.

Other people being thieves doesn't justify you being a thief. You don't have any concept of morality, do you?

The bottom line; though the near-extinction of the Native Americans in America is certainly condemnable as a genocide, and though the way America treated its indigenous population was filled with morally questionable acts, the wave of immigrations from Europe to America still has at least one genuine justification--they needed a new homeland in which they could live a more humane life, with freedom and chances to pursue their happiness without the oppressions and injustice they experienced in Europe.

The motive behind the invasion of Tibet by PRC has no justifiable reasons whatsoever except for mere arrogant hypocrisy. The reasons were just forged-up ones to cover up silly childish nationalist sentiments that they wanted a bigger country, mere selfish childishness which is also totally obsolete. The life of most of the Chinese people don't certainly depend on Tibet. The Chinese invasion of Tibet is not because of the people's real need, but because of the fictitious need of a nation which wants to pretend to be bigger and stronger.

... Actually there is one crucial thing about which China is very much dependent on Tibet, but then the policies of the PRC government is only destroying that precious resources. So far it is far more reasonable to listen to what the Dalai Lama says about the future of Tibet if the PRC government is really serious about their own people's lives--WATER, hence the protection of natural environment.

I mean, If the PRC is going to continue the destruction of nature in Tibet as they are currently doing... Soon or later there might be severe shortage of drinkable water supply in China, with the important natural resources too polluted for human usage.

> Read the history book, you dumb, fat, ignorant, simple-minded Americans.

You should read them yourself, and mind you not the "official" history of Chinese empires which are very unreliable when the borders of their territories are concerned. The Ming and Qing dynasties claiming that they controlled Tibet, or considering Tibet as their subject, were solely formalities-based fictions addressed for the Chinese (Han) people. On the Tibetan side they never recognized that, nor that China has ever actually put Tibet under its control before 1951.

I mean, according to the official history of the Ming dynasty, not only Tibet but also Japan was a subject of Ming--which of course was not true at all. The truth was that Japan needed to establish an official trade treaty with Ming, and the Ming emperors lied to themselves that it meant Japan being their subject. The arrogant hypocrisy of the Chinese Empires required that they could never enter in a diplomatic relation in equality with other nations. The others needed to be either their subjects or their enemies--only in formality that was only valid to the Han Chinese. It's about time you guys grow out of that false notion, and becoming more civilized.

> What does the US feel when Hawaii or Alaska wants to separate from the States.

Read the American constitution; the United States is a Union and each state has the right to leave the Union when the people of that state decides so.

And so far neither Hawaii nor Alaska are making moves for their independence. So think about why the Tibetans want their freedom from the PRC (actually, what the majority is asking is nothing more than a meaningful autonomy with their human rights respected).

Read this again;

You must be very stupid and blind if you think the Tibetans don't need to be treated better than the way PRC is doing now.

> Tibet was reclaimed by CHina in 1951 and we sent a large number of people there for guidance and adminsitration.

When the tibetan people didn't ask for their "guidance," and as for the "administration," who want to have such corrupted and crooked, badly-organized bureaucracy? That's another problem about the PRC's ruling of Tibet; if the Tibetans were given the autonomy that the PRC officially claims, there wouldn't have been the problems that exist now. The Dalai Lama would have stayed peacefully in Tibet and continued to work with Mao and his successors as he initially has decided. Unortunately, it was the PRC and the party who broke nearly every single promises they made.

and Private Sam in American we have a Democratic Republic or reprsentative democracy (you know free speech, stuff like that. You guys in China should give it try, this union and democracy been working out great for us since the mid 1700's) and people in Hawaii and Alaska voted to be part of the United States. (I know Voting is a new word for you guys but stuck with me)

Did people in Tibet voted to be part of China? nope didn't think so

Sent people "for guidance and administration"?
Hahahahahahaha... And Mao was Santa Clause. If this is what Chinese official history books contain, they've got a sick sense of humor. You treated the Tibetans almost as horribly as the Japanese treated you!

Can't we just buy our Free Tibet bumber stickers and T-shirts at the Gap and live in peace? Nobody actually supports a free Tibet in America, we just like the trendy liberal fuzzy feel of saying we support it.

I take it back, I'm not putting a bumber sticker on my 80,000 dollar Beamer. I'll pay $60 for the T-shirt though. Boy, everyone should try being more Bohemian like I am. Everyone at the hedge fund I work at are such hypicrital capitalist pigs. They deserve a lesser bonus than I get.

Peace out.

hehe, it's funny to observe this post as neither an American nor a Chinese, watching you act as if your nation is better than the other one's.

Brings to mind a quote from H. L. Mencken:
"Every decent man is ashamed of the government he lives under."
Not a whole lot of decent people in this thread..

You claim the US "stole" all their land from the Indians. But where did the Indians get it from? They had been warring amongst themselves for thousands of years before anyone from Europe set foot in the Americas. If Americans stole land from the Indians, then they were robbing other thieves. There's not a country in the world whose territory wasn't stolen from someone else, who in turn had stolen it themselves.

China can manufacture "rightful" claims on Tibet, but in the end it's just smoke and mirrors. The only justification for China's possession of Tibet is force. Tibet no more belongs to China as a result of a previous occupation than China belongs to Mongolia because Genghis Khan conquered it hundreds of years ago.

I can calculate the motion of heavenly bodies, but not the madness of people.
