What's the deal with Zuleki?


Zuleki, Enaros' ugly assistant guy...what is he supposed to be? He clearly isn't human.

I don't know. I don't think the filmmakers knew. Or cared. At all.

My guess? The filmmakers thought "Hey, we need an ugly monster for Kull to fight. And he needs to be smelly and gross and all that. That'll be funny, won't it?" No further thought went into it: no attempt to explain what he is, where he comes from, what he's doing in Enaros' employ.

Just one of the countless, heinously insulting changes the film made to Kull's character and world.

I think Zuleki is supposed to be a "Frazetta Man"-type character, a savage primitive who is bestial and hideous but is still considered a "human", sort of like a fantasy version of a neanderthal. Guys like these have been appearing a lot in fantasy-type settings and are in fact based on the wodewose, a type of "wild man" in medieval folklore.
