shareJacob Willem Katadreuffe has reached a lot, but on the other hand he didn't get to be with Lorna te George, something they both wanted, it seemed.
He says that the evening he has gotten his lawyer-diploma: 'I had everything, and at the same time nothing. And he (Dreverhaven) knew that all those years.' When Katadreuffe and his mother are sitting in the park together and te George comes along, his mother calls him stupid for not getting together with te George while he had the chance.

They were alike in the sense they were both driven. which left them with nothing else but professional accomplishments. but socially they were both inept.
one thing i noticed, the closing credits music is similar to batman begins music.

Yes they were very much attracted to eachother. But in his speech Katadreuffe said he wanted to become a lawyer, and to become that he needed to focuss on reaching that goal only. To Lorna te George, that was the final sign that Jakob Katadreuffe thought there was no room in his life for her. That's why she left. Jakob did want her but was unable to express his feelings because no one ever showed him how to show emotions to anyone...
