Maybe it's just me, but this is one of the best and funniest family films of the 90's. A class above everything else Hollywood created in this genre.

I find it somewhat pathetic for this guy to have made a top "122" worst movies of all time... its pathetic that he first of all spent the time making a list to begin with, but the fact that he posted it on the internet is even sadder, lol. I mean honestly, whats this world coming to?

Plus, some of the movies on the list are fantastic, love actually, seriously, its amazing, lol.

whoever is saying a horrible thing about this movie is insulting the director. because this director one day will be known as the next john hughes. this guy directed home improvement and dragged tim allen into acting in movies. i know he did. i can feel because if he didn't why would he direct tim allen in these films?

reply

the words are sequel and remake not ripoff or sequal

reply

this was one of the best films of all time and there defenetly should be a sequel-no doubt about it.

I've always loved this movie. So adorable, great family movie. Obviously, if you're comparing this movie to something like, The Departed, then you could say it lacked substance and was pretty cheesy at times. But once again, it's just a family movie. And a good one. It wasn't expecting any big awards, it was just pure entertainment. And as for doing a sequel, that would ruin this movie. There's nothing left to make a movie out of. Sort of like, Cheaper by the Dozen. First one was an adorable family movie, second one was just stupid and pointless.

What do you mean thankfully?????????? This movie was soooooooooooo funny!!!!!

There has to be something fishy about this movie. I remember when it came out in theatres. I was in like 3rd grade or something. I remember that there was this other movie out that looked EXACTLY like it. It had the same concept, screenshots, everything... except different actors and a different title. If you know what I'm talking about... please tell me.

someone asked : why would they make a sequel to a rip-off? or something like that.. Well, just look at the American rip-off to Ringu, The Ring.. They made The Ring Two. And there is also Ju-On, wich they also remade under the title The Grudge, and they're going to make a sequel. Americans don't care if the original movie had a sequel, or if it did have one, like the two I mentioned, they make up their own story. And they don't care either if the sequel is good... So why don't they make a sequel to this? So they could make even more money with a horrible movie that every family would see in theatres?? Anyways.. I miss the time when even sequels were good... After '95 almost every sequel got boring and predictable...

they're constantly remaking terrible family movies, like:

It Takes Two (1995) and The Parent Trap (1998)

or

Freaky Friday (1976) and (2003)

or

Cheaper by the Dozen (1950) and (2003)

sometimes its to carry on, what some people might call "good stories" to the new generation, and of course other times its just to make an extra couple million dollars... not much we can do to change it.

It Takes Two was actually a "remake" of The Parent Trap(1961)

reply

hate to break it to you but Cheaper by the dozen isn't even a remake, its a bastardization of a real family which doesn't even use the same last name as the origianl or any of the plot points. Read the book by the Gilbreths if you want to know the story.

reply

Yes, Cheaper by the Dozen is 'loosely' based on the Gilbreth family, however that doesn't negate the fact that the 2003 film is still indeed a remake of a 1950 version. So your comment is irrelevent to the topic at hand really.

I know exactly what you're talking about...I clearly remember seeing the preview for the alternate movie. It had scenes exaclty like those in the Tim Allen movie, right down to the dialouge, but starred completely different actors. Never understood that...

You are probably thinking of the French film "Un Indien dans la ville" a.k.a "Little Indian, Big City" on which this film is based. Even the son's name, Mimi-Siku, is the same.

Are you talking about "George of the Jungle"? It's funny you mention this because I remember when I was little my family took me to see Jungle 2 Jungle in theaters. I thought we were going to see George of the Jungle but ending up seeing this instead! Lol I felt so duped.

reply

I was fortunate enough to see both GOTJ and J2J as a double feature when I was 9.

reply

I hope not. I love this movie, think it's a great family film, but definitely do not want to see a sequel. Too many movies have sequels when they should have just been left alone. Another Tim Allen film, the Santa Clause, for example. The first one was so good. I'd like to pretend the next two don't exist.

It would be great if a sequel came out where Mimi Siku shows New Yorkers the true meaning of Christmas.
