question about the ending

Did Mr Rochester get his eyesight back? Jane said something about his eyesight, 10 years later..but I missed it. I would think that once it's gone, it's gone.. so maybe what she said was more symbolical about his sight. Can someone clear this up for me?

He does regain sight. In both the book and movie version. She says something about it starting to return and then when his child is put in his lap he is able to see. Sorry, can't remember the exact words.

oh wonderful. i teared up so much during the end in class, i couldn't make out her narration.

Ciaran was a fabulous Rochester! (Not that I would know, I haven't read the book)

I also think Ciaran is wonderful. I've read the book a couple times and have watched 3 or 4 versions of the movie and I think Ciaran's performance is one of the best. I also think the chemistry between Samantha Morton and Ciaran is really good. I just wish it wasn't so short. It was made for TV and it's a hard book to do in a 1:40 movie. About a year ago the BBC did a new version. It was shown over two nights on PBS and I thought it was well done.
