Who is the guy (actor) who gets shot and Alex nurses back to health, the one he has the book talk bit with where they cut in the sentences of the books. He looks so familiar to me but I only watched a little bit of the porgramme so I don't know what his name is.

According to the main imdb.com entry, the role of Freddy was played by Lee Ross. He was recently in four episodes of the Titanic mini-series playing Barnes. It looks like his most well-known work might be 48 episodes of EastEnders from 2006 to 2009, playing the role of Owen.
