the '50's

I continue to be surprised at how off the mark directors are in depicting
clothing in the '50's. I was a housewife in the '50's and I never wore
cotton housedresses. I didn't even own one. I wore blouses and capri pants
and my hair in a pony tail. My mother wore hosuedresses in the '30's. The
teenage girls' attire was equally off. Skirts were long, mid-calf, and
usually full or A-shaped during that era. Mid-knee skirts were worn in the '40's. I've yet to see a movie that actually gets it right.
