The Wackness & Empire Records

Ok so who else got was tripping out at the beginning? The store looks just like the one from Empire Records and Brendan Sexton is doing the exact same thing his character does in that movie, stealing CDs. Surprised it hasn't been brought up yet.

Also I know they're fairly different but I kind of felt like The Wackness ripped this movie off. NYC, coming of age, 90s hip hop, the relationship with the girl- all over a summer too.

As a big hip hop fan I was pretty stoked about The Wackness but thought it was too forced in the end. I enjoyed this movie a lot more, a lot too sentimental (I tend to like more gritty movies) but otherwise very well done for its budget.
