Historically Inacurate Afrocentric Garbage

Bumpy wasn't that powerful, nor was he sought after by everyone. Why do these movies always glorify the black gagster as a noble figure in a world of ruthless evil doers? A smart, and wise man sought for counsel by the more evil and stupid white gangsters?

Schultz' character was retarded, and his death was over simplified, inaccurate and silly. Then the hitter is killed in the same car Luciano is sitting in? That was beyond stupid. Luciano wouldn't be outside waiting, and who would have the guy his in the car? you'd blow your ears out in a confined space and get splatered in blood.

Captain Folley is killed by Bumpy? WHAT?

Enrique Miro never got shot by Dutch he was bought out and left to Puerto Rico, he did not have his nuts cut off.

The Queen was not that powerful. Vanessa Williams was a joke, she was gorgeous but she can't play black. it doesn't suit her.

I agree. Stupid movie, glorifying a gangster. Why can't this movie be more like "The Godfather," where all the organized crime figures (based loosely on real gangsters) are depicted realisti...er, never mind.

reply

I don't see how you can go from criticizing the moving for glorifying a gangster and then talk about The Godfather, which is the most blatant example of gangster glorification in cinematic history. Did we all forget they cut off a horse's head and put it in a dude's bed in that movie? Oh yes, that's realism.

Hoodlum wasn't the greatest movie ever, but it was pretty good as far as gangster movies go.

Anyway, i don't know why folks respond to the OP. What's the point??? He posted then ran away, too afraid to face the backlash of his idiotic statement.

What the heck does that mean? How do you "play black"? Why would she have to "play black"? As if she's not black because she's gorgeous. Or maybe she's not black because she has light skin and green eyes. For someone who's "playing black", she's suffered for it just the same as if she was black. She should have stopped playing when they took that crown from her way back in the 80's. She's probably been black before you were even born or thought about (obviously I don't know when you were born so I'm guessing).

Ignore the OP,who's obviously a troll--white gangsters and outlaws get glorified ALL the time in films, hell, pretty much since the beginning of film, and the OP complains about ONE films about a black gangster? He/she obviously didn't bother to do their research on the film---and,hell, the majority of Hollywood films aren't accurate when it comes to history,PERIOD. So apparently if a film is made from a black point of view, it's garbage? How ignorant and stupid. Anyway, the troll just wanted to start some s*** and run, that's all. And if she/he hadn't figured out by now that Vanessa Williams is black, it makes me wonder what the hell he/she thought she was in the first damn place----duh!

It's not a documentary; it's a MOVIE. If you want the first, don't go looking at the second.

The problem with this movie is that it makes Bumpy Johnson as on the same level power wise as Schultz, Luciano, etc which he wasn't. He wasn't even close to them, esp Luciano. Plus Dewey wasn't corrupt like they made him out to be. I believe he was corrupt in the sense that the conviction he got on Luciano was bogus in that he used perjured testimony and the like to convict Luciano on a prostitution rap that by pretty much all accounts was an extreme stretch at best. For example: There is no way in hell that a boss like Luciano would be making pick ups @ brothels as witnesses (junkie prostitutes) testified that he did.

With that ignorant, idiot rant of yours.....you do the PRECIOUS NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, a MAJOR DISSERVICE!

It's OK to disagree with the contents of a film and express your opinion; and we do know that Hollywood is notorious for taking full advantage of using creative license. But to accuse this film of being totally inaccurate, and then have your own dissertation (to justify your point of view....filled with inaccuracies would be ludicrous if it weren't so irritating!

As sinful as they were/maybe/still is......believe it or not.....black gangsters of that era did exist and were highly respected in the very capacities they represented in this film. The only difference between them and the other gangsters of that time.....they did not have the unlimited economical resources/freedom of power they needed to exert victory over their enemies and reign supreme....that belonged ONLY to the WHITE BRAIN TRUST!

It's better to do your historical research before risking making statements that are indeed.....inaccurate.

Your racist statements both about Ms. Vanessa Williams and the Black Gangsters, and the general tone of your post; does not properly represent the central figure in your sign off signature!!!
