Stepfather would have known brothers

At the beginning of the film, the stepfather, who has gotten the Drew Barrymore character pregnant, gets scared when the brothers pursue him with their military-type helicopter. But, since he was married to their mother, he would have known the two brothers were copter pilots and not have been frightened by them. Hmmm? yes?

SPOILER BELOW:

Yes, he would have known them. However, he was cheating on their mother, had gotten the girl pregnant, and was, in general, a very bad husband. Knowing that at least one of the boys (Angus) was not cooking on all four burners, he SHOULD have been afraid of what they'd do if they knew he was hurting their mother.

BIH Michael Jackson. The world is a little safer for kids now.

In addition to what the person above said, just because we can see who is in the helicopter doesn't mean he can tell who it is. They are wearing helmets with things that cover their eyes, so much of their face/head is obscured and besides which I don't think a person on the ground would be able to see into a helicopter very well anyway. Especially with the light they kept shining on him - you know how it is driving at night when someone coming from the opposite direction has their brights on and it makes it hard to see; you certainly cannot see into the car with the light in your eyes. And just because he knows they are military doesn't mean he knows it's them.

So all in all, I think it is very reasonable to believe that the guy didn't know who was in the helicopter. Regardless of if he did know or not - bottom line is when you are being chased like a cat playing with a mouse like that, you are going to be scared.

He had just told Drew that he admitted to his wife that he was having an affair. And I'm sure, that he knew that his wife was a little crazy, and knew that her sons would fend for her if she asked them to.

So, he might have known who it was in the helicopter and that is exactly why he was scared. He knew his wife would want revenge and that her sons would do it for her.

I'm scared of a picture of a helicopter like that! I love planes trains and automobiles, but some sure look like what they meant for. The Apache was meant for killing. Now I'm reading that's a Cobra? I guess I missed a generation there...I need to go to images and compare the two...Anyway, that bird is not a rescue vehicle.
