Why This One Could Be Considered Better

To me personally, I like this movie though I consider it a little cheesy. I'll mention reasons some people might prefer this one over the first two.

1. I feel like the first two Home Alone movies have gotten old, and definitely not worth watching outside of the Holiday Season.

2. When we watch the first two, we immediately remember Kevin's family from previous times we had seen it. A supposedly rich family taken everyone on a nice vacation, and the movie comes from a bratty 8-year old's point of view wanting to spend time away from his family.

3. I feel like this movie is faster paced than the first two, well more so than the first one. I dare you to watch the first Home Alone like now and you'll probably notice how slow paced a lot of the film is. This film seems faster paced.

4. The burglars in the previous movies are a couple of guys trying to rob houses. In this movie, the burglars are high tech. They're a team working for a terrorist organization and they happen to be in Alex's neighborhood looking for that computer chip. They also are holding guns which Harry only had in the 2nd Film. They didn't look like burglars to the neighborhood. While Kevin prevented his house from being burglarized, Alex seems to prevent a massive terror attack. So, Alex is a bigger hero dealing with a bigger problem.

5. When we watch Home Alone, we probably notice how much of a brat Kevin is. I mean if a lot of us talked to our parents the same way, we'd get in trouble. Alex who is at the same age Kevin was in the first movie, is a much sweeter kid.

I never thought of it that way, though I always liked this one. Another thing might be that the way he's left home alone is a bit more realistic. I mean, I watched all three movies recently with my family, and my mom kept saying that she'd have done the head-count in the first movie herself instead of making someone else do it--which is when they would've realized that Kevin wasn't there. As for the second movie...most parents wouldn't let a kid fall behind. They'd be in the back, making sure everyone was boarded safely. In this one, it's a bit more realistic--I'm sure there have been many parents who leave their kid home alone while they run to work for a few hours. You're not really supposed to when they're Alex's age, but it's a lot more likely to happen than leaving a kid behind while you leave the country.

Remember that four fingers point back at you when you point one at me.

It has been a while since I watched the old ones (the second one is my favorite), but the pacing of this one certainly did not strike me as fast.

I thought I was the only one who thought this was the best. You make a really good point about the first 2 being old although they're classics ... They really aren't that worth watching.

And you're also right about the boy being MUCH MORE appealing and sweet. He was so adorable

The 3rd film is rubbish nowhere near as good as the 1st two films a home alone film without Mac is unwatchable.

I agree with you. I didn't know there was a Home Alone 3 still just recently. At Christmas they showed all 3 movies, since the first two have a xmas theme. Personally I'm not a fan of MaCaulay Culkin, but he did contribute to the success of the first two movies. Anyway with family at xmas time I sat down and watched HA3. I thought it would have been hard to find a kid actor more annoying than MaCaulay, but they did it with this movie. The script and over the top booby traps he managed to whip up in a few hours, I admit made me dislike him more than just his personality which I'm sure the studio thought was an ideal MC replacement.

I didn't mind the change in family and villains for the first third of the movie, but once it got into high gear with the this smirking 10 yr old's booby traps outwitting the team of international agents, I quickly grew more annoyed with the movie.

Actually, he was 8. The actor who played him was the same age back then. Coincidentally, the actor's name is also Alex. Pretty cool eh?

Despite those points, everyone knows the first two films are the best.
