DVD

OK, I know the US DVD of this film is said to be in fullscreen, but does anyone know for sure if that means fullscreen as in 'pan-n-scan' or fullscreen as in (proper) 'academy ratio'? Anyone?

reply

The movie was shot in 1.33:1, so the fullscreen ratio on the dvd is the proper ratio it was shot in. No pan-n-scanning was neccesary.

I don't know how to tell the difference Rabid. I have another issue - I bought a new copy of this movie and it there are about 8 or 9 scenes where the video seems to jump back a second and then quickly resumes playing. It's very odd and I get the impression that it's not due to imperfections on the disc surface, which looks new and clean, but rather due to a problem in the burning process at the factory. Anyone else have this problem?

Another possibility is that I was sold a pirate copy. The label side of the disk is completely white with no writing or identifying symbols, which I thought odd. Just curious if others have the same looking disc.

My dvd has the same problem and I have wondered myself if it was just mine or if all are like that.

As for your pirate theory, my disc doesn't look like yours. It has a picture of the cover on it and looks normal to me.

Anyone else? I love this movie and I want my dvd to not be f'd up. I'll get another if necessary.

i got it from a torrent and it does the same thing.

I got my DVD new in a delete bin for $4..
It's definitely a defect with the DVD itself because mine does exactly the same thing.. It's like it skips or jumps back a split second and starts playing again.
Almost like it freezes for an instant, goes back a 1/2 second or so and resumes.
Mine does this several times during playback.
I tried it on 2 different standalone DVD players and on my PC.. it did it on all 3 players.
It's a manufacturing defect. Figures.
