gerard butler
does anyone know how big of a part gerry butler has in this movie?? or how much screen time?? just wondering....before i rent it.....
Guess this might be a little late for you, but Gerry plays Billy Connolly's younger brother Archie. He has quite a bit of screen time and except for the terrible wig they have on him, he's wonderful as always.
Hope you get this before you rent it.

shareYes the sans kilt scene with a strip off in front of each other on a deserted beach...juxtaposed alongside the Victoria with children beach scene, definitely not "sans kilt" but covered from head to foot, no doubt with bloomers and just about everything else emerging from the wheeled bathing hut.
Though Victoria's dip is taken on the advice of JB, the salt water doing her good, the allusion is clear...the primitive elemental of JB counterposed with the formality of middle-class morality exemplified by Victoria.
The struggle within her is exemplfied by that swim. She sees the forthright honesty of JB and takes his advice because she finds him very attractive and that he talks no nonsense common sense which is unique to him yet obviously by her position she has to abide by the formalities of her social standing.
Although the sans kilt swimming scene is cute. All I could think about was poor Gerry got hypothermia when he was filming it.
I just wanted to wrap him in a big, warm, fluffy, towel and hug him tight.
umm im gonna be shallow here but umm...what all of gerry can be seen?

the guy was in the movie for about five minutes. did you notice that it was a movie about queen victoria, per chance?

He's actually getting people to check this movie out who probably never would have bothered. I watched it for Gerry and ended up really liking the story and Billy Connolly's performance.

If you DVR it, as I have and shamelessly put it on "slow" and then pause at a particular point- you can see all that the good Lord (and his mum and dad) gave Mr. Butler. And with a PG rating no less... :o)

shareI have never seen what is so spectacular about Gerard Butler. He's not all that handsome and he's of a lightweight build. I liked Billy Connolly in this movie much better. The idea of a strong man who is willing to be the queen's friend is what makes him so attractive.
And no, Butler doesn't die in this movie. He plays the role of John Brown's brother, Archie, a valet to one of Victoria's sons. I do agree that he is almost unrecognizable in this role.
